Best Part of Guided Reading I recently surveyed teachers about guided reading. I asked them, “What’s the best part of guided reading?” The most common response was “Getting to know my students.” A close second was “Being able to differentiate my instruction based on my students’ needs.” Small group, targeted guided reading lessons are the best way to accelerate students who are experiencing difficulty. They’re also the best way to challenge advanced readers. Guided reading can be the best part of your teaching day!
