Guided Writing with Informational Texts

There are many ways to write about informational texts. Students can write facts they learned or select an illustration to describe. They can compare and contrast ideas, or even summarize a chapter. As the students independently write about the book, have short, but genuine conversations. Teach them a specific strategy that will help them be better writers. In this video I help the students use key words they recorded while they read the book to write facts about honeybees. Notice how I help them organize their ideas before they write. This is especially important for students learning English. http://bit.ly/1RdLsI5
