Reading Informational Texts As students read independently (never “round-robin”), spend a few minutes conferring with each child. With emergent and early readers, listen to them read a page or two and prompt them for strategic actions when they encounter difficulty. For transitional and fluent readers, have a short discussion about the page they just read. Target the comprehension strategy you have selected for the lesson. In this videoclip, watch me coach transitional readers so they can use key details to retell the text. http://bit.ly/1P60laG |
