Introducing Informational Texts

When introducing an informational text during guided reading, it is important to prepare the students so they have a successful first read. Have a short but rich discussion of new vocabulary using the text features such as the index, glossary, captions, and diagrams. I recently used the book All About Honeybees with a group of children who are learning English as a second language. Read the book online (https://www.pioneervalleybooks.com/all-about-honeybees.html) before you watch me introduce it at http://bit.ly/1OoEMWL
