Teach Strategic Actions Proficient readers use a network of strategic actions when they encounter difficulties while reading. They monitor (check) that the reading makes sense, looks right, and sounds right. When something is not right, they take action. They might stop because they know they made an error, but they might not know how to correct it. Your job is to help the students learn to detect and correct errors and problem-solve new words.
