Tell students what they are learning and how it will help the them Remember to tell students what they are learning at the beginning of the guided reading lesson. For example: Say, “Readers make inferences as they read. An inference is using clues from the text and adding what you already know to make an educated guess. At the end of the lesson, say, “What did you learn today that will help you be a better reader?”
